Sherry Cobbler Recipe

If you like Manhattans, you’ll love sherry cobblers. Cobblers have been around since the early 1800’s. Even Charles Dickens wrote about the sherry cobbler. I’m telling you, it’s making a comeback. You heard it here first. This is such a satisfying winter cocktail. It warms you up from the inside out. The oranges have Vitamin C so technically it’s good for you, too. The only thing you need is a muddler.

Sherry Cobbler

The Sherry Cobbler is another cocktail you can make your own. Traditionally it's 3 ingredients: Sherry, simple syrup, and a slice of orange. I've seen mixologists add pineapple slices, maraschino cherries, and even a splash of orange juice. I've included the classic recipe but feel free to get creative.

  • 90 ml Dry Sherry
  • 10 ml Simple syrup
  • 2 Orange slices ((Divided- one for muddling, one for garnish))
  • ½ tsp Sugar ((Optional))
  1. Muddle the orange (optionally with sugar) at the bottom of the cocktail shaker to release juices.

  2. Add simple syrup and Sherry.

  3. Shake hard.

  4. Serve in rocks glass. Orange garnish.

What sherry is dry?

Fino, Manzanilla, and Amontillado are the dry sherries. Oloroso, Pedro Ximenez, and Moscatel are the sweet sherries.
